If you want to add a Falcon Wi-Fi Communicator to a router with a firewall, this article will guide you through whitelisting it.
Before you begin:
If your router has a whitelist already enabled, you may not be able to connect the Wi-Fi communicator to the network. To get around this, you would need to disable the whitelist (i.e. allow all devices to connect without being on the whitelist) and then complete the steps below. Alternatively, connect the Wi-Fi communicator to a separate Wi-Fi network or hotspot to obtain the device's MAC address needed for Step 4.
Step 1: Connect the Wi-Fi Communicator to the Wi-Fi network
Before you can obtain the Wi-Fi Communicator's MAC address, you need to connect it to your Wi-Fi network using the Security App. Ensure the device is connected to the network before proceeding to the next step. Learn how to connect a Wi-Fi Communicator to your network by clicking here.
Step 2: Get the IP address of the Wi-Fi Communicator
Once your device is connected to the network, you should be able to get an IP address. Go to the panel settings in the Security App, then open the 'Wi-Fi Settings'. The IP address will be visible and used in the next step.
Step 3: Check your router's connected devices list
Your router should list all the devices currently connected to it. Check the list to see if the Wi-Fi Communicator is listed by matching the IP address with the IP address noted in the previous step. If it is, you can copy the MAC address from the list and add it to the whitelist.
Step 4: Add the MAC address to your router's whitelist
Now that you have the MAC address, you can add it to your router's whitelist. Access your router's settings and look for the "MAC Address Filtering" or "Wireless MAC Filter" option. Add the MAC address to the whitelist and save the changes. The device should now be able to connect to the network.
If you encounter any issues during the process or need further assistance, please contact your router's manufacturer or consult their user manual. If your Wi-Fi communicator fails to connect, don't hesitate to contact our support.
